Priorities of the Georgian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe
From 27 November 2019 to 15 May 2020, Georgia becomes the Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. For the first time in the history of the country, Georgia assumes the presidency of the international organization thus being granted the opportunity to contribute to upholding the values and principles of the Council of Europe.
Georgia as a part of European civilization, reaffirms its commitment to the basic principles of the Council of Europe by promoting democracy and rule of law, strengthening relevant institutions and developing civil society.
Georgia has selected four priorities for its Presidency: 1. Human Rights and Environmental Protection; 2. Civil Participation in Decision-Making; 3. Child Friendly Justice – Converging Experience on Restorative Justice in Europe; 4. Strengthening Democracy through Education, Culture and Youth Engagement.
