Diplomatic Relations between Georgia and Republic of Belarus were established on January 6, 1994.
Main Fields of Cooperation
Bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Republic of Belarus is developing dynamically. Good dynamics of the high-level visits has to be mentioned. The first official visit of the Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko was held in Georgia on April 22-24, 2015. Prime minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili payed an official visit to the Republic of Belarus on March 22-23, 2016.
Relations between two countries are regulated by broad legal base, which encompasses 27 bilateral treaties and agreements.
The Intergovernmental Economic Commission serves as the main format of bilateral economic dialogue between two countries, which is under the guidance of Vice-Premiers of both sides. Third sitting of the Intergovernmental Economic Commission took place in Tbilisi, on September 1, 2016.
The main fields of economic cooperation are agriculture, transport, pharmacy and tourism.
Belarusian tourists show growing interest towards Georgia. According to the data of Georgian National Tourism Agency, in 2016 (January-September) 31,292 Belarusian tourists visited Georgia, 29% growth compared with the same period of previous year.
